Lakewood Meals on Wheels was founded in March 1975 by the Soroptimist
International of Lakewood/Long Beach under the guidance and with the assistance
of the City of Lakewood.
Many clients are homebound due to illness, age or disability; and the volunteer
delivering meals is often the only friendly, caring face they see all day. If a
client is ill or hurt, or if the volunteer is unable to get a response at the
door, help is immediately called.
Lakewood Meals on Wheels was founded with the mission of providing healthful,
high quality, home delivered meals to homebound residents, allowing them to
maintain their independence and dignity. Starting with just 5 clients on 1
route, LMOW has grown to serve over 150 clients on a total of 6 routes.
You can help us by simply volunteering two hours once
a week, two weeks per month, or on a substitute basis.
